Site Launch: SavieCard.com

SavieCard was a fun project because everything was built from scratch, and I got to name it, brand it, logo it, design the site for it, and do a silly amount of print for it, which normally I hate. I do like the fact that each person has a logo colour for their card back:

The entire site was built using WordPress. With hindsight, given how much the site grew from spec to launch, I would not make that choice for this project again, and v2 will be built on a different framework. At the moment it’s held together with gaffer tape and bailing wire, but it is holding…

This website looks wonderful! I love the colors and the whole theme you have going on.

What made WordPress the wrong choice, and what other system would you use? It looks like you did a pretty good job at taping it all together, haha.

Thanks :) I think it’s cute; I do like it.

When we started, it was really sort of a slightly interactive brochureware site and we were going to maybe do a blog post about each merchant as they came on board, stuck in a special category, etc. The content it actually turned out to house is really more suited to a stripped-out classified ad listing kit in terms of the database hierarchy and the geographic regions requirement. Something like that would give visitors a much better view of the data and make it much easier for merchants to sign up and enter details online – the process is frankly a little cumbersome at the moment, as we didn’t really know we were headed there at the start!

In hindsight, what would you have used Sabrina?

I cannot thank Sabrina enough for all the work she has done in making our site/brand what it is today even if it is stuck together with gaffer tape and bailing wire. I love it… I am forever grateful not only is she an amazing webdesigner she is also a great human being and a huge asset to the Savie team. Many Many thanks B. Ahern -SavieCard.
