Irish Blog Awards Tea Party

teaparty3.png

Ina and I are extending an invitation to all of Ireland’s women bloggers to join us for tea and cakes (or martinis and olives, if you prefer) for a few hours before the Irish Blog Awards.

What:

An informal get together to meet one another, dish the dirt, share a meal and chat about women and blogging in Ireland. Make friends before the Blog Awards so you know more friendly faces in the swarm!

Where:

The Market Bar • Fade Street • Dublin 2 • (01) 6139094
From 4:30 until whenever, probably around 6:30 PM

The Market Bar is approximately 12 minutes on foot from The Alexander Hotel, where the Irish Blog Awards are taking place at 7:30 PM. Dinner is sponsored by Microsoft Ireland. The Market Bar provides free WiFi.

RSVP

Dinner is free thanks to Microsoft sponsorship, which means you just need to cover your bar bill. Please RSVP by posting a comment here so we have some idea of how large a table to book.

Invite Your Friends!

If you’d like to extend the invitation to more people and let them know about this pre-event, you can copy this graphic for a blog post or sidebar and link it to this post so others can RSVP too. The more the merrier!

    Women only, sexist gits :-)

  2. Sabrina Dent:

Pat you have way too many knackers to attend. Sorry, Charlie.

Anyway, I am RSVPing. Also, I am staying in a room at the Alexander that night, so if anyone needs somewhere to change, primp, pee, etc before the Awards, you’re welcome to come back from Market Bar with me and use my room.

One hair dryer per customer, please.

  3. pat phelan:

    Dont forget the straightener’s

  5. Coastal Aussie:

Your get-together sounds like great fun – wish I could be there to be a part of it. Hope you have a terrific time.

  6. Cathy:

My blog has been a little quiet – very quiet for the past 2 months, but this could jolt me into posting again. I would love to come along.

  7. Martha Rotter:

This is a fabulous idea, Sabrina!! Can I have both tea/cakes *and* martinis/olives…? I can’t decide ;) Thanks for planning this – can’t wait!

  8. Maz:

Hi Sabrina, I’ll be there, I’m going to put up a post about it now, there are loads of female bloggers in Limerick and most of them are planning to head up to the awards so this sounds like a great pre-awards get together. Thanks for organising it!! xxxx

  9. Sabrina Dent:

Excellent! Ina, me, Martha, Cathy, MamanPoulet, Maz and looks like Sinéad maybe also. What a great start, and thanks everyone for linking. Very excited!

  13. elly parker:

Count me in as well Sabrina, it’s ages since I’ve seen you!

  14. Simon McGarr:

The large portions in the market bar are alarmingly large. Go for one only with help in standby.

  15. Sabrina Dent:

Perfect, I can split martinis and cheesecake with Elly!

  16. fústar:

As I’m every woman and they’re all in me…can I come?

  17. Sabrina Dent:

Sadly, fústar, no. Were you to attend, it would waylay the secret and original intent of the Ladies Tea Party, which was originally called Coven Over Crumpets but Ina thought that would give the game away.

Our real plan is to cast a spell of secrets you can tell, mix a special brew, put fire inside of you.

So obviously you cannot be there for that. Sadly this means you shall also miss out on the I Survived Both the Chaka Khan and Whitney Houston Versions of That Shite Song t-shirts as well. Alas alas.

  18. Deborah:

Yeah, you know I am SO there! Do I have to dress up though? Deb hates dressing up.

How much did the Alexander run just out of curiosity? My brother works at Four Seasons and tells me he can get us a screaming “deal” at €150, but that’s great because it includes breakfast!?

  19. 73man:

“12 minutes walk to the Alexander hotel. ” Be that as it may, several of you’ll be on martini-scooters at that stage so I’d say leave in plenty of time.

Imagine the scene: Twenty going to collect another award and a horde of drunken bloggers carouse their way in and then chastise the men folk for shushing them.

  20. aoife mc:

What a great idea. I’ll definitely be there Sabrina. Looking forward to it!

  21. Sabrina Dent:

Deb, the Alexander is about €165 I think but as I never go anywhere anymore and this is likely to be my entire hotel bill for the year, I don’t mind. I certainly am not dressing up for the tea party, but I’ve asked Maz at Style Treaty about what she’s wearing to the awards themselves as I’ve never been and have no idea what the deal is with dress for that.

Aoife you have my favourite Irish name :) Can’t wait to meet you there!

  22. Bock the Robber:

    Hmmm.

I’m trying to imagine what would happen if I organised something and announced that women weren’t welcome.

  23. John Handelaar:

Easy. No fucker would turn up.

  27. MidgetWrangler:

    Sounds like a great idea!

  28. Hangar Queen:

    Hello Sabrina and Ina

Maz from Style Treaty very kindly pointed me your way and I wanted to say hi…ummmm..so hi like.

Also was wondering about where I might stand on the er….prerequisites.. scale for the event? Seeing as I used to be a fella and all.

  29. UnaRocks:

    pick me! pick me!

  30. Sabrina Dent:

Una, I pick you, I pick you!

HangerQueen, sure you’re very welcome. Pull up a bar stool. Mind the short skirt and long jacket, though!

  31. Sabrina Dent:

    Okay so…

Sabrina, Ina, Cathy, Martha, Maz, Suzy, Elly, Deborah, Aoife, Una all signed up and make 10 so far.

Sinéad, MidgetWrangler, and HangerQueen have checked in but not confirmed yet.

I can’t count. Or read. Am I missing anyone?

  32. aphrodite:

love this idea Sabrina! Fair play to you for organising it girl! You also have my vote for Best Design BTW – love the site!

  33. Becs:

This sounds like great fun Sabrina – could I possibly add my name to the list please? So many talented ladies, I’m hoping I can pick some up (talent not ladies!) through a complicated process of osmosis.

  34. Sabrina Dent:

Aphrodite, it was really Ina’s idea, I just did my usual bossy boots thing and ran with it. And thank you very much for your nomination, that means a lot coming from one of my favourite sites! :)

Becs you are more than welcome to add your name in at #11, we’ll be delighted to see you. I have absolutely no doubt at all that some of the local talent will be *quite* easy to pick up after four rounds…

Oh, wait. That’s not what you meant, is it?

  37. Hangar Queen:

Alrighty then…..*puts the Cake songbook away*..count me in.

  38. Sabrina Dent:

Sabrina, Ina, Cathy, Martha, Maz, Suzy, Elly, Deborah, Aoife, Una, Becs, Claire, HangerQueen all signed up and make 13 so far. Brilliant!

Sinéad, MidgetWrangler, maybe RedMum or the gals from Beaut.ie would put us over the unlucky hump :)

I still think I’m missing some people though. If anyone’s said they were coming in their own blog but not let me know here yet, please make a comment so I can update the list. Thanks so much everyone for being so enthusiastic.

  39. Gabriela:

I’ll be there as well. Looking forward to meeting you all, ladies!

  40. Sinéad:

Sabrina, I’ll be along. Can we watch the football? :)

  41. Sabrina Dent:

Glorious, Sinéad (ha!) and Gabriela make 15. I’ve booked for 20!

  42. Maurice:

I hope I’m not opening a can of worms here :) But wow you ladies have too much time on your hands…..

The blogs that I have seen from you girls have been amazing, graphics and content, excellent.

  47. Sarah C:

Ok – now I’m biting… even though I hate to be called a Lady … I’m definitely not one of them! Love the graphics Sabrina, and the blog has given me a chuckle most mornings this week. Will be linking to TwoTitsandaVote also – you go gerrull (that’s girl in a garroulous pseudo-american accent to make you feel more at home). Sarah

  48. Sabrina Dent:

    17 so :)

I actually suggested Ladies Tea Party as an ironic title. It was just read with, err, far less irony than I had intended. Either way, though, really don’t care – just excited to get us all together!

  49. Laura:

That’s a great idea. I hope you get a good turn out.

  50. jen:

    Hi Sabrina.

Would love to come along and meet everyone :-) Could you add one more to the list?

  51. Ellen:

I’d love to come sabrina, thanks. It will be nice to put faces on some names:)

    Hey Sabrina,
I know I’m late coming to the party but have finally secured “getting rid of sprogs” early so would love to get to meet up and put names to faces.
Would really appreciate my name added to list!
    Looking forward to seeing all.

  56. Curly K:

    Hey Sabrina & gang,

Hope ye have a fab time, I’d definitely be up for the martinis and olives except being a culchie I’m making a weekend of it in Dublin and had made previous plans – so enjoy without me :( but will see ye at the awards.

(Plus very glad I ain’t going now that I know Manicmammy is going LOL!)

    Curly K

  57. DeeMcGrath:

    Hi Sabrina
Is it blog only or can a wannabe/soon to be blogger join the tea party?
    Let me know
    Thanks
    Dee McGrath

  58. Karen Harper:

    Hi
Could you include us in your teaparty….which I hope is code for lots of Cocktails!!
    Karen Harper
    Ellen McDermott
    Anne-Louise McDermott
    Sheena Ludlow
Thanks…look forward to seeing some other bloggers!

  59. Grannymar:

    Hi Sabrina

I held off putting my name on the list because I was not sure if I was up to trailing about Dublin and a night of fun. Old age is a terrible affliction! Since Elly will be there and I hope to stay with her, please count me in. I look forward to meeting you on the Friday.
